UberAfffiliate $130.00 RSS Contest

Many of you have probably seen the Shoemoney vs. John Chow RSS showdown. If not, just go and read Shoemoney 13,000.00 RSS Contest. Well I thought it’d be nice if I had my own little RSS contest and compare percentages at the end. Although the incentives aren’t nearly as great (along with my popularity), the sheer lower number of subscribers greatly increases your chances of winning.

What are the prizes?

Since I’m just donating the prizes to myself, it’s not going to be $13,000.00 worth. Instead, it’ll be $130.00 worth. If anybody wants to throw something in that’s cool. I’ll be giving away 3 prizes :

1) 1 month 125×125 Blogger Block along the sidebar – $50 value. Actually when you win this on Nov. 1st, the value will be higher than $50 as I’m upping the prices.

2) 1 month 125×125 Blogger Block along the sidebar – $50 value.

3) $30 in cash moneyyy (buy yourself a steak dinner okay?)

4) *new prize* Affiliate Defined is giving a 1 month 275×90 ad spot on TechZi. $75 value.

5) *new prize* Ad Gridwork is donating another $30 in cash.

6) *new prize* GoStats is donating 2 free years worth of service. $180 value.

How do I win?

Pretty simple. All you have to do is subscribe via email – that way I can see your entry (as I can see the list of email subscribers). I have the form and everything at the top of this page in the little subscriptions block. You must activate your email address as well. I encourage you to subscribe in a feedreader too, as most people prefer that option.

*EDIT* We already received a donation for a prize and the contest is now valued over $130. I’m still calling it the $130.00 contest though because I want to haha. More chances to win!

Doesn’t matter it is $13,000 or $130, thought that counts that you want to give something to your visitors.

Anyways…. you got my email address, just curious what kind of info you are going to send out? I’m already reading your site via google reader.

I’ll take steak dinner any day though ;)

I disagree with all this trying to pump up email addresses and stuff — I know that is instinct of money makers, but the typical readers of shoe/chow/you/etc likely use RSS. So why ask for email addresses, when it’s just annoying to the readers? The readers will get your RSS by email now, and stay subscribed until your contest is over, and then unsubscribe. And all you did was kinda annoy them, right?

I just gave Shoe my two cents on his having various contests for all those blog readers — people are probably thinking, “ugh, now i have to sign up for a bloglines and newsgator account” to get more entries into his contests. What does that accomplish for shoe? Pisses people off (they feel the only way to get more entries is via signing up for false accounts), inflates his RSS numbers for a couple weeks (those people will continue using whatever RSS reader they were using), and if users signup with their email address, they’ll unsubscribe after all is said and done anyhow — because we already get too much email (which is why there’s RSS for news!).

Love contests — but I think there’s a better way than following what Shoe came up with, which I think was a poor way. Although he probably has money making ideas pertaining to it that I’m just not aware of, as may you, so if that’s the case, just call me some dumb schmuck voicing his two cents ;)

Hey guys – Just threw in a free months worth of sidebar advertising on TechZi. Sign up to the UberAffiliate feed now because Paul kicks ass and his content will make you rich. ;)

Fo’ real though people, this is the kind of stuff that I’d expect in a $97 eBook marketer by the freakin’ “gurus”. Very rare to get such good content nowadays without there being some catch. Free advertising and free money though? Hehe – contests are just a bonus.

I already subscribe to your feed via RSS too, but I don’t have a problem with receiving the e-mail version for a chance at a steak dinner. :)

The only think I don’t like about FeedBurner’s e-mail subscription is that they take several hours to be delivered, as opposed to RSS which updates more quickly.

    Good luck with your contest.

Yeah, I know straight up RSS would be a lot better, but there’s no real way to track it.

If any of you guys have ideas on it I’m down.

  9. October 19, 2007

Nope – e-mail will have to do for tracking. Shoe’s method of having multiple links in different feed readers plain old sucks for people like me who can’t be assed signing up for 55 new feed reader accounts. No offence, big guy. ;)

  10. October 19, 2007

    Did I win yet? ;)

  11. So, everyone wins who subscribes via e-mail? I don’t see anything about a random contestant winning!

  12. October 21, 2007

Subscribed and verified. You’re already in my feedreader, now I’ll get a double dose :)

  13. October 24, 2007

    I subscribed, Thanks

  14. October 25, 2007

    Subscribed. :) Thanks,
    Jonathan
