The UberAffiliate Test

Ok everyone let’s do a test together. It’s only going to take one day, and you may realize that you can be 10x as productive as you currently are. Tomorrow is Tuesday so that’s a good day, if you’re busy with something then do it Wednesday. Here’s what you’re going to be doing for the test :

  • Your instant messenger will be turned off all day. Only log on if you need to speak to your affiliate manager for a few minutes regarding an offer or payout. Once you’ve taken care of the problem, close your messaging program.
  • No blog reading or loading up any forums. No Shoemoney, no UberAffiliate, no Wickedfire, no Digital Point. Nothing.
  • Your cellphone is OFF. Check it every couple hours if you need to see if anybody left any important messages.
  • No TV, movies, video games, anything like that. Take 30 minutes to an hour to watch a show you like to relax a little, but that’s it.
  • If you have a family to take care of, do as best you can to hibernate into your office for the day/night.
  • The day before (tonight or tomorrow), map out a game plan of the basic things you want to do. What offer do you want to work on? Do you want to try a new offer? Which offer, and how will you promote it? Answer these basic questions so that once tomorrow comes, you know what you want to accomplish.
  • Once the day comes, it is NOTHING BUT WORK. If you are disciplined about the steps above, you’ll have nothing to do but get right at it. Research other pages and build a quick clone, buy a domain and get it all set up on your servers. Even just take a basic website template and edit it according to your offer. Research keywords and popular offers, then pick one. Just do what you have to do to get this puppy rolling. If it’s a current campaign, look at stats from the past month. Try and figure out what’s not working and why. Then totally start it fresh with what you just learned.
  • Get out a pen and paper. Yes that’s right, pen and paper. At the end of the day, write down everything you did.
  • Compare and share. Look at what you did in 1 day, and compare it to how much you’ve been doing daily on average for the past week.

Don’t wimp out on me with this, I’m serious. Follow everything I said and report back to me once you have your notes from that day. I’m not saying you have to be this strict every day, but for this one day you MUST be as strict as possible. If I don’t get a few responses to people who have done this, I’m going to be pissed.

Boom! I shall do it. The IM is getting SHUT OFF TOMORROW. Absolutely positively no blogs. Not even entrecard (*sigh* lol).

I’m going to map out a to-do list tonight. I’ll be up at 10am to start my day. I’ll be working til 9 PM.

I shall call it my Power Day. (I did this once when I was in the loan biz. But I did it for a whole week. Called it my Power Week.)

    Thanks for the motivation!

Count me in. Might not happen until Wednesday but I am definitely going to do it. My AM will surely appreciate me actually getting a sizable amount of work done in one day.

“Do it fucking now” comes to mind as well.

With an emphasis on “each day”. Consistency is always the key since, if you only change certain habits for a short period of time and give up, you can’t expect to become successful.

It is indeed incredible what dropping a few habits which do nothing more than waste your time can do as far as increasing your personal productivity is concerned.

Yeah, these are really GREAT tips! You will be much more productive. I’ve actually done this a few times. It’s amazing how focused and productive I actually am.

I’ve started using tadalist.com and basing a strict to-do list. I’ve notice a lot of difference in my daily workings.

    Cool!

  20. January 9, 2008

I have a feeling my sense of productivity on a *standard* day is about to go very, very far down.
    Haha awesome tips though

I actually do something similar already.

I map out what I need to get done each day and then categorize it by A1, A2, A3, etc then less important things with B1, B2, B3, etc. I dont do a single ‘B’ item till all my A’s are done.

This helps me not only work efficiently but in order of things needing to get done.

But I will be honest, some days I dont want to work as hard so I ignore the list completely ;)

Having the right priorities is definitely a must since otherwise, you can end up spending the entire day on useless activities and not actually achieving anything.

My cellphone and instant messaging are almost always turned off. In fact, on my main work laptop, I don’t have any instant messaging applications at all.

  24. January 16, 2008

    Looks good.

  25. January 18, 2008

Looks pretty good to me too.

  26. January 18, 2008

You’re on. You get far more done with a focused effort. I need to tattoo this philosophy on me :)
