Myspace Opens Advertising

(28) Comments... Have Your Say! ~ September 24th, 2008

Yeah, you’ve probably heard about it but if not: Myspace opened up their own advertising platform to anybody who wants in. I’ve made a couple ads and it seems like they’re approving most things as long as you stay within their thin guidelines.

It’s Myspace – go make some ringtone/crush/dating ads and rock it.

Also how you guys doing in the CX Digital billionaire contest? Here’s a screen from my acct :

I thought you didn’t promote and didn’t encourage to promote ringtone offers anymore…remember that post?

I’m not going to do it myself and obviously am not going to stop many people from doing it, and that’s the target demographic for those offers.

Nice work on the contest, let us know how the sweet private jet is! Maybe a contest giving away one of the seats, a very profitable contest of course!

I’m really not surprised and have suspected they might come out with some form of money-maker for their users. Particularly since there are other social networks emerging with this- Zenzuu for example, is described as, “like MySpace but with ad-sharing.”

Myspace looks good, but they are showing only US as the geo targetting option. I wanted ads to appear in Australia, UK etc.

Is that for me or everyone ?

PS- I am in top 100 on CX Digital.

Okay, 3 of my first 5 finally got approved and spend rate is pretty good. It is definitely different than all my previous demographic research shows in campaigns w/ other media buys but it’s myspace, after all. Guess I need to quit being such a lazy ___ and split those campaigns up a bit more to weed out the underpeforming sectors. Or maybe I need test ads instead – there is such thing as a banner that is “too good”.

I might have to give MySpace ads a try. I’ve spent about $150 in free coupons on Facebook Ads, but I haven’t had much success there. Maybe I’m just not as savvy with internet ads as I thought.

Is myspace advertising any good or is facebook better?
Or just stick with Google Adwords?

Didn’t I read a post on WF where you were ripping on CX Digital and said you didn’t use them any more? They must have started giving you KW lists and free LPs again huh?

That’s odd. I’ve gradually progressed up the ranks; and my font type/size has always remained the same. Also, there’s a border around my rank which is missing in your image. You can see the differences in this screenshot: http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/7258/cxdigitalyw3.jpg

Not too sure what to make out of this.

I think that this was a healthy decision by MySpace, because it opened them up to new methods of bringing in cash flow. Their company model is quite appropriate, and they continue to have a large effect in their industry.

I guess it depends on how much it cost to advertise. You can get alot of clicks maybe make alot of money with CPA..
