Hi, I had a question about building affiliate landing page. I have run over 20 PPC Campaigns with review style landing pages, but can never get a decent click through from my landing page to the merchant page…most people who visit it click out after a few seconds…
what can I do better? How do I get them to make the click….

Hey Paul,
whole slew of questions I could ask, but just a few here:
1. What kind of skills do you need as an affiliate marketer? I really want to learn PHP, programming, web design/coding, or other skills. What would be worth my time?
2. As you progressed, how were you able to get high-limit credit cards?
3. For affiliate marketing on a (low) budget, would you recommend I create SEO-based sites or start off with PPC sites?
4. How’s the car treatin’ ya?
Thx Paul

Hey,
Great post. I do have a few questions. :)
Why is affiliate marketing better than marketing your own products?
What would you recommend to non-americans interested in getting accepted by affiliate networks?
What are the information products that have helped you/other affiliate marketers the most?
What are your favourite books?
Thanks!

April 8th, 2009 at 11:49 pm
Paul:
I am sure you get this question quite frequently, but I must ask for my own benefit.
What advice would you give to someone who is new to CPA marketing? I have done some affiliate marketing with limited success. I know how to ftp, set up a web page and do basic keyword research. However, converting traffic has been my challenge.
With this background, how would you approach CPA marketing if you were in my shoes?
Thank you for doing the “Ask Me Questions” post. I really appreciate it.

*** PLEASE answer this one ***
Have you figured out a way that works *consistently* to slow the traffic to a website, without pausing it — so that you don’t end up killing your impressions when you unpause the traffic and want it again?
I remember you talking about day parting features or lowering bids in a previous post… which is working best for you now across the board?
Thanks!
Caleb

I’ve been an affiliate marketer for a whole year and have run a few successful campaigns however they have all been slapped and yes one was a weight loss flog…. The other campaigns were proper ones but for some reason been slapped.. about 3 months ago I just gave up and stopped affiliate marketing.. But i want to come back in … Back in 08 I made about 80k US. Now every campaign I start I can’t seem to get it to convert…. Have you ever had this problem??? I work 2 jobs but love the affiliate marketing lifestyle should I be more persistent and continue with what I’m doing… Its hard to see a future with affiliate marketing as nothing can made stable
April 9th, 2009 at 7:49 am
Why have you chosen this, much blogged about topic for your blog, when you could have had much more exciting to talk about?
April 9th, 2009 at 9:21 am
What do you like most about affiliate marketing?
April 9th, 2009 at 9:28 am
When running a content campaign, should you always include directly related keywords in your list OR would it be a good idea to build a list of for example “teenagers lifestyle” when promoting a ringtones campaign so that your ad appears on teenager lifestyle sites, and not necessarily on ringtones or cellphones or music sites?
With this convert, or will it be a total waste of my money?
Thanks
April 9th, 2009 at 9:40 am
How many keywords do you typically have when you begin a new campaign and what do you start your daily budget at?
April 9th, 2009 at 10:11 am
What is the best way to ramp up a campaign after you know it converts? Every time I try to do it, I end up losing money because the keywords are too expensive. If I bid too low, I don’t get any traffic.
April 9th, 2009 at 10:22 am
What is exactly affiliate marketing? How would I apply it to niche blogs?
April 9th, 2009 at 10:22 am
Do you do only whitehat stuff?
April 9th, 2009 at 11:46 am
Know you’re busy but have missed your blog updates.
On average, how many ad groups do you have per campaign and how many keywords in each ad group? Percentage of business you promote on Yahoo vs Google? Special tools you feel are worth the investment ie lpgen, speed ppc, etc. What factors do you use to determine whether an offer has the potential to be successful?
April 9th, 2009 at 12:03 pm
Hey congrats on buying the new car, looks amazing.
Anyway my question, how do you see the outcome of the FTC getting involved introducing the new guidlines on how people can market products.
Thanks,
Richard

Hey Paul!
What happened to Ubercamp! It was great stuff!
April 9th, 2009 at 1:25 pm
Had a few questions if you get the chance…
1. Do you show your referring URLs to the affiliate programs or do you blank your referrer? And can you explain why you do whichever one you do.
2. Do you always link your PPC campaigns to your own created landing page or do you direct to the affiliate site/sales page? What is your feelings about linking your PPC campaign to one versus the other?
3. If this was so easy then everyone would be raking in the big bucks, what makes you so successful when so many others fail?
4. If you begin a campaign from scratch, how many days and how much money do you invest before deciding that the campaign will not be profitable and you should try a different campaign?
Thanks!

What’s the best way to get my monies worth out of ASE
April 9th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
Hey Ive been doing PPC on and off, ive only really worked hard on 2 Campaigns and was pretty successful. But being an affiliate marketer you are bound to piss of google one time or another, so how do you go about creating many accounts? I recieved a message saying they would ban me last year if I created another account, and I only have 2… I have run out of credit cards and all my accounts have used them at one point.. so what do you suggest I do? what is your strategy? I have some killer ideas but do not want to hit google hard unless I know I have an untouchable backup account set up…

What’s the best software to track PPC conversion rates, and will it work when networks don’t support trackback?
April 10th, 2009 at 12:21 am
1. Is it worth it to start in this industry, even if with a low budget? The reason I ask is because I have been successful with making profit off of traffic-based web sites that aren’t affiliate marketing. I’ve also made money from web site consulting and was wondering why I should get involved in affiliate marketing instead of web site design / development.
2. Where do you start as an affiliate marketer? I have a low to medium budget and I don’t know if its even worth it to start in affiliate marketing?
3. Which network do you think has the best offers?
4. How do you get the motivation to keep going day after day when you work for yourself at home?
April 10th, 2009 at 2:40 am
I live in the UK so are there any international affiliate networks out there?
April 10th, 2009 at 6:32 am
Hey Paul,
1. Why are you not posting the way you posted at the beginning of your blog? You went from super informative posts to ‘I got a new ride’ post.
2. Which laptop do you recommend for bloggers / internet marketers? (Budget $1000).
3. Why do you never respond on MSN when I ask you something? Too busy?
Thanks!

Hi Paul,
I read your latest post about Google Adwords Strategy. In the first paragraph, you mentioned about redirect trick on Geico.com.
Can you elaborate a bit about how that redirect trick works in more detail? I can’t seem to understand your explanation in it. I Googled ‘redirect trick’ but didn’t come up with good results.
Hope you wouldn’t mind to spice up my double digit IQ.
Cheers man,
Adi

1. When deciding how much to bid for your keywords, do you use the formula of taking your predicted conversion rate of the offer multiplied by payout amount?
2. Once you mentioned that you love to bid high then lower your bids, so I’d like to ask at which point do you actually know when to lower your bids?
3. What’s a day in the life of Paul Borque like? :P

- Do you push many offers that require someone to get out their credit card?
- What’s the sort of payout range do you look for in the kind of offers you run; the lower $3-7 end, or the higher $15-30 end?
May 18th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
What would you say are the most ethical methods of PPC promotion that don’t involve either A) pretending you’ve tried products you’ve never used, B) Having someone submit their email for something they’re not expecting, or C) anything that you wouldn’t feel tricked if YOU entered your information in and got what was coming.
No judgments here, I know we all have our own values. Thanks.
