Ask Me Anything

Ask me questions about anything: affiliate marketing, blogging, making money online, my life…anything.

Q&A posts are the easiest for a blogger to write (because your topics are predetermined), and sometimes the best for readers (because real common questions get answered. I’ll start by answering a bunch with text, and then if there’s too many questions to type, I’ll do some with video also.

Fire away!

How many times do you…masticate before swallowing? :D

In all seriousness…how many campaigns do you have running at any given time, what percentage of them produce a ROI, and what percentage of what you make from those that produce ROI do you lose on those that don’t?

    Hi.
How do you create initial cash for yourself? I mean, I would refer to your low budget guide, but $50-100 is all I could spare a month.

  11. March 20, 2008

Do you use software like SpeedPPC or Xtreme conversions or do you have your own exclusive systems?

What is the ROI per campaign you’re targeting?

  12. March 20, 2008

why do you always brag about your “earnings” but refuse to ever post how much of it is actually profit.

  13. Do you ever use the content network? If so, any tips on how to get better CTR and/or conversions?

    Hi,

I just put a lot of aff links using openads(openx) on a site I help maintain. The site is at http://www.sourcelight.com/discover/new_releases.php. What should be our next steps and what do you think of our implementation? Any other pointers?

Almost all the affiliate sites you recommend to join ask for my website, but I don’t have a website yet, what am I supposed to do?

  18. March 20, 2008

At your age and ability to obviously network with some damn smart people, what other business models outside of pay per click have you thought about pursuing or are pursuing? Obviously specifics will be omitted but in what areas have you thought about going into or scaling to secure other business ventures?

How do you deal with the unknown factor of what percentage of your leads of sales is going to be rejected? I find it very frustrating to wait for a month to see the approval percentage and by this the actual eCPC.

Have you ever used offline marketing tactics to market online offers? Such as, classified ads, commercials, magazine ads, etc.
Have you ever bought pop up or pop under traffic?

  23. March 20, 2008

How much does this blog make you?

How much a month do you save up in your bank account?

Do you have any long term investments such as stocks, CD’s, etc? Care to share?

    Thanks,

Do you do anything apart from PPC? Do any of your sites rank organically? Can you program in a lang like PHP and SQL and do you use this for your campaigns, so are you technical basically? Do you use the adwords API much?

Does the Google Adwords keyword tool give you search volume for US only or entire world? Is there a tool that shows what people in other countries are searching that doesn’t mix in results from North America?

  27. March 20, 2008

Do you play Smash Bros? Who’s your main?

On a more serious note, what would you recommend to someone who has read every guide he can find on PPC and landing pages, and still can’t do much more than breaking even?

Asked these in the last post on Aweber, hoping you answer ’em now..

How do you measure the value of a subscriber?
And what’s an acceptable CPA to you for getting a new subscriber?
Also, do you start pitching subscribers right away?

    Two Part Question :

    1. Your girlfriend is pretty hot…. How did you meet such a hot chick if you are always busy working on your campaigns in your basement?

    2. Does your girlfriend know the extent of your revenue from your online businesses?

What’s best for you, landing page or actual website?
I’ve read articles where google is taking down (slapping down) affiliate sites. I’ve always been more on the website side anyways, I like to do it right but the time and work that goes into it is no joke.

You mention that you create your own landing pages. I notice most networks that run search offers have their own LP that you need to hit (via jumplink) to get the cookie set.

Do you set your LP to go to the affiliate one (essentially 2 LPs before signup) or do you set the cookie yourself and figure out a way straight to the signup/action page? How do you bypass the affiliate page?

Also, what changes do you expect to see in the future as a result of the increasing popularity of mobile devices used to access the internet? How is that going to effect affiliate marketers in your opinion?

Describe a perfect mini-site landing page to get a good QS. Privacy policy, About us etc. is understandable, but what kind of content and how much content would you put on the site? I am not sure how you can incorporate a LP with a content site.

He has posted his profit. In one post he said of the $120,000 revenue in one campaign, $50,000 of that was profit.

  41. March 20, 2008

I also run a 7 figure affiliate business. I am a one man show. I think I had read that you have affiliate managers. How do you trust your campaigns/keywords/methods, etc to them without thinking they will just take them for themselves?

  42. March 20, 2008

We can make money from adsense with low budget ($10).
Do you have a case studies make money with $10 selling affiliate product using adwords?
I wonder you make an experiment in this blog and share with your readers.

    Hi Paul,
    I have this little questions:
    1. What is a SuperAffiliate? How do you define it? When do you know that you are one?
    2. What Networks do you use? Do you go only for Leads? Sales? Do you do ClickBank?

    Thanks.

When you initially put out money to start your own affiliate site, did you worry about losing your money? or were you sure that you would be successful and were confident in putting your money on the line? In other words, do you think affiliates have to be natural risk takers?
