2007 UberRecap – Future Here We Come

Hey guys, hope you all had a great holiday like I did. Got to spend time with family, friends, and got some cool gifts. The holidays aren’t over just yet, we still have New Years coming up soon that should be a blast. As 2007 is coming to an end, I wanted to write a post reflecting this past year for me in affiliate marketing, blogging, and my every day life.

I can’t even begin to think of how I’m going to organize this post. I have so much to talk about concerning this past year and my goals for next year, I don’t know where to start. I guess I’ll start with an overall recap of my first year in affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Marketing in 2007

AM was a great place to be in 2007. I personally started in February, my first month was a gross of $1,094.25, and that was 100% from ringtones. Not too shabby for my first month in the game, I was happy enough to quit my part time job and pretty much stop doing all school work (ha).

Things from that started increasing exponentially, I was constantly doubling my revenue each month. Maybe when I celebrate my one year affiliate anniversary, I’ll whip up some graphs and show you the growth. Three months later, by May, I had my first $10,000 month. Three months after that was my first $25,000 in August. After that, things really took off and my revenue/profits shot up like crazy; well into mid six-figures monthly.

How did I do this?

I don’t post what I make to brag or show-off, I do it to show you guys the possibilities. If I’m 19 years old and I can do it, why can’t you? A lot of you are probably a little older, wiser, and have more savings (I started with $8). I made my first six figures through hard work, not giving up, seeing my bank account reach -$300, and practically forgetting about school. I’m sure a lot of you would be very happy with just making what you do at your normal job now. I then made my first seven figures though dropping out of school to work full time, maturing a little, and taking the leap of faith. I had a nice amount of money saved up from the past 7 months or so and I put it all on the line to do big things: and it paid off. Keep stabbing at it and you’ll find something, it’s a great industry, let’s tear it up.

Blogging in 2007

I started this blog in late September I believe, and since then it’s grown to be pretty big for a new “make money online” blog. There’s so many out there and I wanted to try to distinguish myself from the rest by providing useful information that will physically make you more money. I’ve done a pretty decent job of that so far I think, and all of my readers have been awesome. Out of 66 total posts (including small and random ones), there’s a total of 1,182 comments…that’s awesome! That’s an average of almost 20 comments per post…keep that coming. I <3 comments and a chance to just chat with you guys and hear what you have to say. My Life in 2007

I mostly talk about affiliate marketing and the internet in this blog, but I do have a life aside from it believe it or not. Life was great for me this past year. Some of the highlights :

  • I quit my part time job.
  • I finished my first year of college.
  • I dropped out of college.
  • My relationship with my girlfriend and I has grown a lot and it’s awesome.
  • I bought a new car.
  • I got consistent on a healthy diet and workout program, and I’m actually starting to not look like a twig anymore.
  • I traveled to events and had a blast.
  • I’m setting myself on a good path to cover me for hopefully rest of my life. Physically, mentally, and financially.

Affiliate Marketing Goals for 2008

It’s that time to set some 2008 goals for myself. My hope is that in a years time I’ll be able to make another post letting you all know that I’ve accomplished what I set out to do. I actually don’t have a long list of goals, it’s actually only one :

Have $2 million and some change sitting in my bank account. I don’t care how I make it, what niches, what search engines, what companies…I just want that money in my bank.

Why that simple goal? I want to put away $2 million into some longer term investment plan. My long long term goal is 15 by 25. $15 million in the bank by the time I’m 25. You never know where the industry is going, and it’s definitely hot right now. I want security for the future, and if I can have that amount of money in the bank and invest it properly, I can live rather nicely solely from the interest. 15 million dollars is no easy feat though, and I plan on being very busy for the next few years in order to make it worth it for the 60 years after that.

More specifically, I have some offers that I’m hoping can accomplish that goal in addition to what I have going now. So 2008 may be an exciting year for me.

Blog Goals for 2008

Aside from trying to take over the world, I do have some goals for this blog. I like the direction it’s headed in, I love my audience, blogging is fun, and I want everything to continue to grow. By the end of next year, I’d like to have at least 2,500 subscribers. I’d like to keep the comments and links coming in frequently, and I’d like to keep giving you guys good advice that you can actually use.

Life Goals for 2008

I have some life goals that are a little more specific than my internet goal, hopefully I set myself with these as well :

  • Keep my relationship with my girlfriend growing and going strong. Things in any relationship can get even more challenging than getting Google-slapped, so it’s always a task, but a rewarding one.
  • Upgrade my car. Not sure what I want yet, but I know that I want a nicer car. I may just see if I can trade in my Mazda3 and upgrade to an RX-8.
  • Weigh 190lbs with a relatively low bodyfat. I’m 163 now, so that means about another 30lbs of muscle.
  • Spend some money on myself. I don’t do it that often since I’m trying to reinvest/save at the same time.

Like I said, I didn’t think I’d be able to cover everything and I’m sure I forgot a ton. This is my best attempt at giving you guys a real experience of an uberaffiliate. Thanks for everybody who has been following this blog and appreciates the time and effort I put into it: you guys make it worth it.

I’d like to wish you all a prosperous 2008, another Happy Holidays, and a very drunken New Years. See ya next year!

I see your doing really good but a tip is to not leave all your money in the bank!

Are you crazy for leaving $2,000,000 in the bank? I’m pretty sure that you’re only assured for only $100,000 so what if the bank fails? (FDIC) You loose all that.

I wouldn’t want to be that person to loose all that hard work. Diverse your income. :)

  2. December 26, 2007

Well I don’t mean literally sitting in one account, I mean $2,000,000 profit to invest in different secure areas.

  3. December 26, 2007

I think you should keep your Mazda3 to drive everyday and buy an RX-7 to play with. (assuming you are that big of a mazda fan, there are other cars out there too). the RX-8 is a kind of crappy car, especially compared to the RX-7.

    Hey Paul,

Good plan man. What I want from 2008 is to build few turbo charged portal sites. And I will contact you for that when the time comes. Hope you don’t mind.

And make even more profits then this year :-).

What I will do with the cash in a month or so will put some cash into stock fund, some into bond fund just to diversify my income. Here in my country stock funds still make 30-60% per year :-). So if you’re interested contact me. hehe.

All in all great plans buddy.

    And nice to be here,
    Hrvoje Livnjak

  5. December 26, 2007

Cool I sure you make all your goals come true.

  6. December 26, 2007

    Congrats Paul.
You inspire me. I was recommended by a singaporean friend to read your blog. He is 21 yrs old and netted 20K last month through CPA. My 2008 goals is to quit my job and make enough to set up a trust fund and adopt an orphanage. Cheers to a great blog ! Keep it coming. Thanks once again.

Yea don’t leave $2M lying in the bank, get atleast a CD Accountant at %6.

Maybe you should experiment and put your money into mutual funds? Tell us how that goes, the $1M Experiment

I work my ass off on web sites/services and some affiliate marketing through PPC and landing pages, but it hasn’t paid off for me like it has for you. So your story lights a fire under my ass which is great. I love getting super motivated to put in work! :)

  10. December 26, 2007

Keep it coming man. Finding this site is what got me interested in affiliate marketing in the first place, and your marketing guide is what pushed me into actually trying. I wasn’t really convinced it was for me until one of my sites netted me $150 overnight. Now I’m hooked.

Keep posting and I’ll keep reading.

I totally have the same attitude in regards to the investment for the future thing. I’m 18 and I’m netting a consistant mid-low 4 figure monthly income. Compared to your earnings it’s not much, but I’m increasing my streams of revenue all the time. I’m trying to make it now so me and my family can retire ASAP and live comfortably for the rest of our lives.

  12. December 26, 2007

Very thought provoking, lifted my spirits a notch higher…
Definitely I will make 2008 a bigger success in AM, started out in mid oct 07, now have reached roughly $400/month.

Love your style of communication with your readers…

Great goals. This list has helped me narrow down a set for what I want to accomplish in the year 2008.

Great goals, and keep up the good hard work!

When you have over a million in the bank you suddenly gain access to “new investment opportunities” aka 12%+ investments.

If he/you/anyone doesn’t figure that out themselves, or a CPA fails to suggest, the bank will definitely be making a phone call to make sure they can better take advantage of the money.

I’m sure you are trying to be helpful by suggesting the market as an investment vehicle, but really, cash is king now. Best bet is to tighten down the hatches and be ready for the storm cause the shit is going to hit the fan in 08. Prediction is heavy bank write offs due to mortgage crisis and they won’t begin to know how severe for another 12-16 months.

    Best of luck!

  18. December 27, 2007

well done ! keep up the good work !

  19. December 27, 2007

Wow, awesome story mate, and hearing success like that makes me wanna push on with AM even more! Good luck with 2008 and can’t wait to hear your next progress report!

Btw, you need to close the “ul” tag before “Affiliate Marketing Goals for 2008”. Lol ;)

  20. December 27, 2007

Looks like you had a great 2007, and good goals for the new year. My only advice as one of those “older and wiser” guys: Go back to school and get your college degree. Money is great, but you can’t put a price on being a college graduate…

  21. December 27, 2007

Your articles is very inspiring me and my most favourites blog right now for internet marketing even you are not posting as often as shoemoney or john chow, but it’s always valuable to read you article ,
congratulation for your achievement in 2007, and hope you can achieve what you want in 2008.

  22. December 27, 2007

I would rather have 2 in the bank rather than my degree. ;) What is it a degree gives you? The quote is “Money, Power, Respect” not “Degree, Power, Respect.”

Most people go to college for a degree, to get a job that makes enough for them to live off of. If you can skip that step why not? Unless you can get on a flex/online course schedule, our local schools offer those plans.

  23. December 27, 2007

Great accomplishments and great goals! it’s good to see you had such a good year. It’s good inspiration for me as i’m about to start my first ppc landing page campaign Jan 1st. I’ve been doing research for the past few weeks. I’m confident in my keywords and landing page. But i’ll keep you posted. thanks for the great and helpful blog!

Congrats, Paul. Keep up the good work on your blog. You are really inspiring many of us to succeed. Your success is yet another example of how the Internet is really the new entrepreneurial frontier and that there are still fortunes to be made by those who are smart enough and brave enough to stake their claim. Good luck in ’08!

  25. December 27, 2007

You’re an inspiration. Reading this post has pushed me over the edge into starting affiliate marketing. I wrote a post about it at http://www.websitepromotion.net/website-promotion/im-jumping-into-the-affiliate-game-in-2008

I like that. “Security doesn’t exist. Look for freedom instead.”

    :: thumbs up ::

  28. December 27, 2007

Great post Paul. :) It’s been fun watching you grow from back @ Click consultants to now.

You’ve certainly taught me a lot so I hope that this year to reach the 6 figure month like you have. :)

  29. December 27, 2007

Paul, I’ve found out about uberaffiliate.com by reading a post of yours over at Jeremy’s blog (nice touch with Facebook btw) and have been following it ever since. Since providing value to the web seems to be your business model with this blog, I’m sure that the goal of having 2500 subscribers in 2008 will easily be reached if you keep up the good work.

    Best wishes,

    Alan Johnson

  30. December 27, 2007

Hey Paul, your stories are inspirational and it sounds like you got all your sh*t together and going in the right direction.

I first found your blog I think when I was randomly stopping over at Shoemoney’s blog and read about your facebook story. It sparked my interest in Internet Marketing again and I just bought my first site last week and have only made about $30 this week but everyone must start somewhere.

I must say, your blog cuts through all the BS that most people feed us and I’ll hopefully be able to put your tips into action.

Cheers, and good luck hitting your goals; especially 15mil by 25.

    Luke

  31. December 27, 2007

College has nothing to do with the degree or the job you get after. It’s all about the experience of going to college, and the knowledge gained. Money has nothing to do with power and respect.

  32. December 27, 2007

    I’m your biggest fan!!!!

    December 27, 2007

    Hi Paul,

keep up your work and I believe you will reach your goals easily.

Another question, perhaps you know the answer: I alwasy read the blog from diorex, but since 2 or 3 weeks the blog is private. Do you know why? Perhaps diorex is around and can give me the answer.

    Chad,

College is not for everyone. I have a business degree and the on campus experience was great but I realize it’s definitely not for everyone! If I were in Paul’s position when I was an undergrad, I would have dropped out as well. I have a buddy who left college early to play pro ball for several million. I see what Paul has done as being no different.

  35. December 27, 2007

    Hey Congratulations!!

Those are some really amazing results! I hope I can achieve similar success one day soon :)

    Keep up the good work!

  36. December 27, 2007

The FDIC $100k limit only applies to money deposited in smaller banks. When big banks “fail,” depositors get 100% of their money back.

    Hey Paul,
Just want to say thanks for sharing so much good stuff on your blog. It has been a real help and I have learnt a lot.
    Cheers
    Nathan

  38. December 28, 2007

you mentioned in your post that being a college graduate was the thing you couldn’t put a price on, not the college experience. i actually agree the experience is great, i just thought you were referring to the actual degree. there are good substitutes for the college lifestyle/experience.

I have heard this two ways… “Never let school get in the way of an education” and “Never let education get in the way of learning.” do what works for you.

  39. December 28, 2007

Another great post! The way you have succeeded so quickly in affiliate marketing really motivates me to work harder and be more productive in 2008 so that I can realize my goals of quitting my full time job and being able to work from home.

  40. Very nice income report. Really inspiring -at least for me-. :)

Might be a good idea, especially since “trading in” is almost always a stupid idea, IMHO. Get a new car and keep the old or sell it outright instead of losing money on a trade-in. Trading in is what desperate people with upside-down car loans do to get into more debt.

The college “experience” outside of a degree/job is pretty much related to hanging out with a bunch of immature people, partying, getting drunk, etc. You can do that in the real world- with a more mature and accomplished bunch of people.

I didnt learn a single thing in college, to tell you the truth. My friends who really enjoyed it didnt benefit either. It was either for a job or the “‘experience” and the ones who did it for the experience are 30 years old working at the mall for minimum wage and still hanging out at the Frat house.

I went to college for the “serious” reasons of really learning, accomplishing something, etc and I was sadly disappointed. It did not stimulate me at all. I learn more j-ing off on the internet.

  43. December 28, 2007

Really? What would be an example of a big bank? Washington Mutual?

  44. December 28, 2007

Chad, at this point, taking things to the next level is all up to you. Keep in mind however, that behind every success story lies a great deal of hard work, as I’m sure Paul will agree.

    Alan Johnson

  45. December 28, 2007

It’s amazing how fast you progressed. Good luck in 2008.

I’m inspired to get my act together to get my pitiful earnings up.

  46. December 29, 2007

keep trucking man… you are on the right start. As setting goals is key many online people just wing it and wonder why they never make it. If you take your success to the next level you can make and make it big…. and shooting for 15 mil is a good goal.. as 1 mil isn’t near what it used to be. Wish you the best in achieving your goals.

  47. December 29, 2007

Well Andrew, being inspired is an essential first step, just be sure to not lose momentum, get started asap and be committed to a long-term investment of time and efforts.

No you don’t get access to 12%+ investments. Know your shit before you post BS. If you have 1mil+ in most banks the most they will do is give you private banking. And since you also think you get access to 12%+ investments, you probably don’t know what private banking is anyhow.

    Keep thinking your dumbass shit.
