Click Consultants – Another Fake?

So it seems like every big blogger out there (including myself) has posted an earnings screen shot. Recently, Derek Salyers from Click Consultants made a post saying “I make $200k/month”. He posted what he said was one of his checks from Clickbank that was like 5-6 months old. Here’s a picture of the check :

As you can see, he’s blacked out everything, the name, the date…everything. I did a simple Google Images search for “clickbank check”, and found the following :

It’s the exact same check, only with some more information…including the name that is Brad Callen. So the check was listed at 50k, and he provided another 20k screenshot, and then said the remaining 130k was dispersed between other affiliate networks and he didn’t feel like posting them. But I thought the 50k check was from 6 months ago, so that wouldn’t even factor in would it? The whole thing just screams fake to me, he edited the post a few times saying he has another way to prove it, so we’ll see I guess.

We have to expect that most people will fake it until they make it I guess, I just didn’t think someone would just search “clickbank check” and rip it straight from Google images and think that nobody would notice. Ah well.

Update : It seems like he added a snippet to the bottom of his post that says this :

The ClickBank check posted above isn’t actually one of my ClickBank checks. I haven’t gotten an affiliate check since I first started affiliate marketing, I’ve always signed up for direct deposits or wires.

Yet above in the original post, he says :

My last check that I received, before I went to wires 5 months ago, was for the amount of approx $51,000 dollars.

Doesn’t exactly match…

  3. August 8, 2008

Weren’t you involved with Derek and Click Consultants at one time~!?

  4. August 8, 2008

Umm my blog post already says the check isn’t one of my actual checks…it has said that since a couple hours after the blog post…yesterday…way before this post…

Just wanted to point that out…

  5. August 8, 2008

The check posted on Derek’s blog is very deceptive for sure.

Kinda iffy is you ask me…

Way to go guys! Throw your “mentor” under the bus why don’t ya!

Why would you post this image in the first place if you weren’t trying to pass it off as your own….and black out the name? Dumass.

come on dude, we all know earning screenshots do nothing but give you a shitload of traffic and credibility.

  11. August 8, 2008

    FAILED

  12. August 8, 2008

That is pretty sad to fake making money. Everyone starts somewhere. How can he feel good about telling everyone he is making tons of money, but yet being broke as hell. It must get him really depressed.

does seem dishonest to me, there’s no reason to post someone else’s check if you got real proof

    Derek,

Do you really think people are that stupid?

“I didn’t think it would matter to use a fake check to make the post more interesting”

Really? Now you’re trying to pretend you’re new to this whole blog check posting game? You didn’t think it would matter if you posted a FAKE CHECK? Wow, you’re a tool buddy. You don’t make $200k per month, I seriously doubt you make $20,000 per month. To make a post, claiming some bullshit numbers then make an update saying needed to post a check but didn’t have one, (because no check has ever been sent to you for that amount or near it), is pure bullshit. You’re full of shit and you got caught. Also, if you just wanted a fake check, why go through all the trouble of blacking out all the info? Just fess up, admit you can barely pay for your groceries, (as I’m sure you still live with your parents) and all is forgiven.

    Moron.

We all know screenshots of checks went down the drain ever since Shoemoney’s… but that is kinda weird but I’m not going to judge… everyone has their own reason.

Why would you post it in the first place Derek? Please explain that on your blog. Saying “I didn’t think it would matter” is baloney. Tell us why you posted it.

  20. August 8, 2008

if its your check post it and be proud although thats a very sweet way of getting traffic…thats one of the reasons that pulling almost the whole traffic pauls got here!

  21. August 8, 2008

    vwey very funny lol

  22. August 8, 2008

Hmm, just to answer the question about me thinking people are stupid and wouldn’t realize it or whatever… Actually I knew people would realize it…again I posted that the check wasn’t real way before it was even brought up by anyone on their blog…

So if I was trying to hide it or fake it or whatever, why would I admit on my own blog that the check wasn’t real and was only used for “entertainment” purposes for the post?

I hate BS-ers like you, “I MADE BAZZILLION DOLLARS” …. YEA RIGHT!!!

    another SCAMER in the row….

  24. August 9, 2008

What the heck? This seems so fishy…I think Jon Volk didn’t get the “Let’s do something crazy to get some traffic” email.

Now to me, it seems like a ploy to just get traffic. We all know creating controversy does create a buzz and sends traffic to your site, but this is crazy! lol

We are all laughing at Derek and we are commenting on what a fake he is or whatever, but this is creating a lot of attention which I think was the main objective. It’s definitely causing people to check it out.

I think I might use this same tactic some day. Nice work guys! =D

This guy is full of sh*t. Clickbank just recently started doing direct deposits in the month of July. There is no explanation that is acceptable for being a “faker.” I wish people would stop hatin’ on Paul so much and focus on the real problems. It’s people like this who try to “fake it till they make it” that is messing up the internet. Karma can be good and bad. He deserves whatever he gets.

Hee hee, that was so funny wasn’t it! I remember Paul having put fake RSS conter number but i actually thought of him as another fake but he at least proved with more or less good content. Putting fake checks is uber lame, i mean putting even real checks is sooo lame.

    August 9, 2008

This is UberShit :) Wasnt Paul involved in giving birth to ClickConsultants?

  29. August 9, 2008

Haha, pretty funny. Too many scammers around…

  30. August 9, 2008

What I see happening is this: Paul really has NO idea about additional content to add to his blog, and the last actual “content” (if you can call it that) post was written July 25. It was about your affiliate business and whether or not you shoot for short or long term. However, over 2 weeks later, there is yet to be another post about anything other than old bullshit industry news, and and random “who-the-fuck-cares” industry news.

Quit pitching tents and produce some content here.

Why do people post their earnings in the first place?? Does anyone care?

  32. August 9, 2008

I dont see why you would be calling out a mentor of yours if he supposedly helped you get to where you supposedly are…

  33. August 9, 2008

this is one thing i won’t do, post earnings. very transparent. only in the online world do we feel the need to do this…i dont imagine doctors or lawyers scanning their paychecks to show off to each other.

  34. August 9, 2008

I’m not throwing anyone under the bus… I was simply saying it’s deceptive.

Isn’t that the same guy that says through Blog Gears that he has helped you (Paul) and a few other affiliate marketers to be where they are today?

  37. August 9, 2008

Busted is right. Paul, at first I was going to comment with “why are you calling out your friend”…(or at least I thought you guys were friends)…but anyway, this definitely seems fishy.

  38. August 9, 2008

    Keep them honest, Uber

  39. August 9, 2008

    August 10, 2008

That’s an apples to oranges comparison.

In the “make money/bizop” world, online & off line, people show their earnings. Look at the late night infomercials, guys show their earnings all the time. I’ve got many direct mail letters for biz opp stuff where the “guru” shows “proof” of how much they bring in. Realtor “gurus” show their earnings to entice other Realtors to buy their courses, etc.,. It’s more common than you realize off line.

  43. August 11, 2008

    OWNED..!
and this is why i don’t brag about how much i bring in.. cause it’s the internet there is always someone out there hatin or tryin to be that “one up guy”… great post though!

Calling out your own mentor?? Good job Paul! And good luck to you!

  45. Greg C
    August 12, 2008

Yes this is common when people are selling MLMs, scams, bootcamps, etc. Affiliates in general have no reason to show earnings because they make money by making sales not scamming noobs out of money.

Just as offline professionals aren’t showing off their earnings, only “gurus” selling crap.

Month is the same, amount is the same – first three digits of check # have been altered, and date has been changed from 2 to 7.
