Utilize Free Traffic Sources

I’m not going to post a mega tutorial that will hold your hand and help you make thousands, but I do want to hint at you guys.

There are A LOT of ways to get free traffic and send it to affiliate offers. This idea is not new, and has been used for years. People made a killing spamming Craigslist and Gumtree (classified ad sites). Those aren’t the only 2 places people interact for free.

Think about forums for example. There are THOUSANDS of forums on the web that people interact in, and most forums are niche forums. Find forums that have the potential to sell a product in, and test it out. Just thinking from common sense, the best way to actually get conversions is to be legit – which takes time. Post for 30 minutes or so and get a bunch of posts in, let your account sit for a couple weeks so it doesn’t look like you’re a brand new member, and then pitch your offer like you’ve used it yourself. Find a forum about cars or something and say that you got a great auto insurance quote for free…could be easy money there.

I’d test something like that out but I’m way too lazy haha, so a small tip like this may be better in one of your hands. I’m more of a throw some money into ppc and let it run by itself kind of guy. But the traffic we’re talking here is 100% free, minus the time you spend on it.

There’s other sites out there where people are interacting and you can join in and pitch your product…just have to do some outside of the box thinking ;).

Nickcakes just wrote a pretty detailed post about getting some free traffic and monetizing it with an affiliate offer. worth checking out http://www.nickycakes.com/affiliate-product-blogs/.

Good post to you Paul, and definitely a decent resource there Neil that you posted.

I really enjoy the comments and the posts that are made at this site. I continue to read it daily! Keep it up Paul :)

  4. June 11, 2008

haha nice he’s probably going to say that I copied him, didn’t even see that though.

  5. June 11, 2008

Good post? Nicky posted about it before. And well, I just unsubscribed. Did you notice that you are telling me to test things out for you? LOL!

  6. June 11, 2008

    How am I doing that?

    Have a good one brohan.

  7. June 11, 2008

Forums can be a gold mine for free traffic, it really isnt hard to find 2-3 in your niche and participate occasionally.

  8. June 11, 2008

wow, so your “out of the box” idea is to do spammy sales pitches on forums for free traffic?

now i can see why you charge 5k/month for consulting

  9. June 11, 2008

Another idea is to go into flickr or any other photo site and search for images that match your niche. Seen a lot of people do this. Not sure on the success rate and you need to watch your throttle on how much posts you make.

  10. June 11, 2008

Would you think direct linking or a landing page would convert better on this sort of stuff? I know it depends on the offer… but lets use diet pills as an example.

  11. June 11, 2008

oh don’t worry, i’d be insulted if someone suggested that this post was related to anything that i’ve ever written.

Nickycakes when you get bitch slapped by me at ASE don’t say your bitch ass was not warned! think I am kidding?

  13. June 11, 2008

    >> and then pitch your offer like you’ve used it yourself

Or, here’s an original thought: Only vouch for products IF you’ve actually used them yourself.

But, hey…that would require too much work, eh?

I’m not advocating that you have to use a product to promote it…but if you’re gonna SAY you did, then maybe you should. There’s a bunch of people behaving like idiots in the world already…why not make a decision to make a change for the better…starting with yourself?

Wow, how the hell are you able to do that. I’ve done some posting but not as close to what you have done.

Out of the box… said before… whatever you want to call it, a free tip is a free tip. Perhaps someone offered this idea before, and perhaps 50 people have. The point is, if 1 person reading this blog didn’t know about it prior to reading the post than it was worthwhile. Nickycakes might be upset that this is “duplicate” content or whatever but I honestly never heard of him prior to today. Now I will check him out… so Nicky, be a nice boy and say thank you to UA for helping to deliver a new visitor to your website. Most of the “tips & tricks” out there are recycled from blog to blog and ebook to ebook, but not EVERYONE has read ALL OF THEM! Again, I will spend all year reading this blog if it gives me a few free tips that pays off. Isn’t that what happens with affiliate marketing anyway, you fail much more often then you win?

  21. June 11, 2008

There are many different ways to utilize free traffic. Entrecard, forums, blog posts, article marketing, link bait… the list goes on. Just set a certain amount of time aside each day or week to utilizing free traffic.

  24. June 12, 2008

Free Traffic is always the best.. You can make a killing on PPC but you get natural rankings for thsoe terms and you aren’t paying a dime :)

  25. June 12, 2008

Well, I can definitely say that I’ve tried the forum route and it does bring in great traffic… if you do it right. I haven’t tested out the AM aspect of it though, but I’m sure it shouldn’t be hard if you’re getting good traffic and not spammy.
