Ask Me Questions – First Video Post

So as I was sitting at my computer a few days ago, I was getting tired and started kind of dozing off and staring out into space. When I started to refocus, my eyes caught sight of the webcam built in to my computer that I’ve never turned on before. I got thinking, and decided that I’m going to do my first video post. I can cover a lot more easily in a 5 minute video instead of writing an article for 2-3 articles. That being said, my first video post is going to be a question and answer session. Post all questions as comments in this post, and I’ll choose a bunch to answer. This is your chance to pick my brain, ask me anything you want : affiliate marketing questions, blog questions, personal questions (how I got started, crap like that), anything.

If your questions don’t get answered in the first video, do not fret, if it’s a good question I’ll answer it in the next video post.

Alright, let’s hear ’em.

How do you determine the optimal bid for a flyer in facebook if your margin is over 100%. Do you increase the bid and try to get more click and hopefully increase your total revenue.

Is there any way to calculate the optimal bid or a formula to maximize revenue ?

How often did you think of giving up in the initial phase of affiliate marketing?

In case you did, how did you keep your motivation alive?

    – What sort of overall monthly profit % do you aim for

    – What’s the minimum % profit that you’ll continue running a PPC offer?

    – How many clicks do you like to get before you drop an offer?

    – Do you do much advertising on Google Content network? If so, what sort of ctr do you see?

    – What’s your favorite network at the moment?

    Loving this blog, btw :)

    1) What’s your favorite money-making technique at the moment?

    2) If you had to start over, where would you begin?

    3) You can spend a day with any three people you want, who would they be and why?

-How long do you usually work on a campaign before it goes live?
-Do you go for smaller niches or the more saturated ones because of their volume/ possible profitablity?
-what do you recommend for keyword research?

  9. October 30, 2007

Is it possible to start an adwords campaign centered around thousands of longtails with a a fairly low cpc without first spending a fortune getting your ctr up?

    Hi,

    – When do you decide to delete a keyword?

    – When do you know a campaign is not working and even more important: When do you knock this campaign off?

    – How do research when you want to go into a big niche?

    Thank for answering :-)

If you were just beginning today, with only the knowledge you’ve pulled off of forums like WickedFire and DigitalPoint, what niche would you start in and why?

Alot of “gurus” have seen their e-mail marketing profits drop hugely lately… Why do you think this is? How can people get around this?

  14. October 30, 2007

Do you enjoy what you do (to the extent that you would do it for a normal salary) or do you enjoy the money?
Are you going back to school? Why/why not?

I guess that as a super affiliate you see a lot of niches that you just dont have the time to get to.

What are the top 5 niches you’ll go after if our day would have 48 hours in it?

Best Strategies for Monetizing A Site

    1. What are the best strategies for getting the maximum return for your site?

    2. What is the best way to expose your referral links to your visitors to get the BEST conversion rates?

    3. Is it true that not all niche sites do well?

I have a PHP site which ranks well in google. Currently I rank #3 for keyword “learn php”. I get 400-500 visitors a day. My problem is, I struggle to sell any related goods from site like php books or hosting. My conversion rates are close to 0%. Overall my daily earning are $1-$3 from adsense and that’s about it!

What can I do to get a good return from my site?

  19. October 30, 2007

What would you say is the best way to capture emails? (If you do this…)

Do you ever use the context network?

Do you often promote ZIP offers?

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

  20. October 30, 2007

    1. Do you promote overseas offers like foreign ringtones, dating and those test drive offers and if so what are you netting from these lower paying offers?

    2. Would you spend a day boarding with me at Hunter Mtn NY if I paid for your lift ticket this coming season?

-how do you research your keywords, and set up your adwords campaigns/groups for max efficiency.

    October 31, 2007

How do you select an offer?
Do you try to stay away from offers that require credit cards?
Do you usually make “review” type landing pages or pure sales talk.

  23. October 31, 2007

What influences which niche you choose?

Do you look for obscure niches that don’t have a lot of competition, or pick something that’s quite saturated, but go at it from a different angle. Or is it a mixture of the two.

Also, do you write your own copy for the landing pages or do you use a copywriter for this?

    October 31, 2007

    Ok a couple more :)

    – How do you go about tracking conversions? Do you have Google Conversion tracking on each offer?

    – How many offers do you typically have active in any one week?

  25. October 31, 2007

Say you were going to setup a campaign for Mortgage/Refinance. What’s the steps you’d take to do it. This is a different angle as it’s a very high dollar niche and will cost yah about 4-5$ per click for the high volume keywords.

    1. How would you find a good program that converted? How many would you test before deciding the one you chose it the best?

    2. How would you go about your keyword research and testing. What would you decide to spend per word to decide whether that words worth a shit or not? How many keywords would you test at a time in a niche like this? Would you bid top dollar on a word that cost 12$ to get your QS up or do you have a better strategy?

    3. How would you go about your tracking these words and calculating if they were your bad boys? How granular would you track?

    4. How fast could you get all this setup?

    5. Do you use any bid management software?

I’m sure there’s more questions but that’s a good start… I know a lot of this has been covered but no one every talks about big dollar niches where the huge money is. So to hear your thoughts on this would be awsome. And even better would be a case study on setting up a campaign for mortgage and watching you own the niche :D

I’m trying to promote a social networking site for a certain niche. I’m thinking of building a network of sites, all linking to the “mother” site to improve it’s serps. For the smaller “children” sites of this network, how do you suggest I create content for them?

Either use an auto-poster (rsstoblog or something like that) or create original content for the sites? Which one?

Have you used RssToBlog, or any software like this – what is your opinion of it?

  27. October 31, 2007

Wow, all of these are very nice questions. Looking forward to your answers.

    I have few…

    1. Last few articles you have written are e-book material. Have you ever thought about creating an ebook? Free Affiliate guide?

    2. You met some great people at affiliate summit,Who has most influenced you? 3. What have you learn that was “New” to you and you couldn’t wait to put into effect immediately?

    4. What other websites/blogs do you visit and recommend reading? besides DP, Wickedfire, Shoemoney… :)

    Hi,

I’d love to hear how you scale your campaigns.

I mean basically: You got that campaign running. It’s making you 50$ a day. Now how do you take that campaign to 200-300$ a day?

    Thanks,

    ric

    three questions:

    1. Down and dirty niche selection – what is your process for testing a niche to see if it worth a darn? do you build out the landing pages/sites, or just send direct the merchant to see if you get any conversions?

    2. Scaling – when you think about scaling, it is about keywords only? Or, do you create other niche sites, pages, etc? Is scaling for you increasing the traffic or optimizing the conversions of the traffic you have?

    3. Long tail – is it really worth it compared to the head. Yeah, I can generate 20K keywords, but with little to no traffic does it matter?
