Sorry the lighting is kind of crappy, I’m in a dungeon right now. I’ll be buying a house soon so we’ll get something better soon enough.

Good luck with the house thing. I am not sure what all you have going into it, but you should be able to get a decent house with the market we are in. As far as a mortgage goes, I hope you can work something out where you don’t get penalized because of a lack of credit. You should be able to. I would definitely get a mortgage vs paying cash for various reasons (unless the rates are just crazy). The videos from the basement are great and I am sure that you will miss the basement once you move. That type of work environment is great.

Great video with some good information contained within it. Look forward to the surprise Uber Affiliate launch will be.

I’ll have to agree with comment above about the house market, good time to buy.

This is a great post. I love the videos. You never cease to inform me.
One question I have is. So say you’re able to track your landing pages CTR all the way down to the specific keywords used? What software analytics do you use to do this?
I think this is one of my major failings in my AM startup so far (and my lack of comprehensive keyword lists) is my tracking is SO limited.
Other than: amount of visitors –> click throughs/opt ins. I have no idea, which key words are performing better than others.
What are all of you using to track your keywords?
January 28th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Well for starters you can use Google Tracking (even with Yahoo SEM) to track your keywords, conversions, and other helpful statistics. You should be using this at the bare minimum.
January 28th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Yep one of the things I use is Google tracking, just having a pixel placed on the offer.
I have my own in-house system as well.
January 29th, 2008 at 7:30 am
Any guides that would help guide someone through setting this up?
January 28th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Also make sure to use the subids for a level of tracking as well.
Google Tracking + subids + site click tracking is a strong start.
cheers

Thanks for the tips! You realize, with all the information you share on this site, you’re just going to be adding to your frustrations, you’re training future competitors!
Here’s a question about adwords optimization. How long do you let a campaign run before you gather enough information to start optimizing it? I guess a better way to word it, how many impressions and clicks do you need to feel like you have a good sample set of results to make decisions on?
January 28th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Hard to give a rough number, I usually let it run for a week or so, to see how it does on weekdays as well as weekends.

Can you tell everyone how you go about scaling up campaigns?
I think you said you spend 4 months doing this? That’s a long time man…you must be digging for every single variation and permutation you can find.
January 29th, 2008 at 1:01 am
Once you have your assembly line built, more keywords => more profit. Why wouldn’t you stick with what works? If you don’t someone will move in and you’ll have more competition.
January 29th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
Thanks, I know how to scale them up, but I was looking to see if he had any different spins on it.
January 29th, 2008 at 1:07 am
Hi Paul,
nice posting once again. A question, that is interesting is how you do your scaling, like PPC Coach answered above.
I have a campaign that is giving me constant sales, but I am losing about $40/day. So I see some potential in it, but I am not sure how to go on with scaling…

Very nice post.
Quick question, Do you scale your campaigns in keywords or in landing pages?
Also how many variations do you usally do?
Thanks!
P.S. Check your email :)

finally got around to watching this. Lots of good questions.
I would also be interested in learning more about the process of “Scaling”. It would make a good blog topic!

Hi Paul,
If you have time for an additional question. When marketing an offer in different countries (e.g. US, UK and Canada), do you break down the campaigns by country as well? Was wondering because we already break down by types of traffic (search, search network, and content) and that might get a little to granular to be worth waiting for enough accumulation of data to make good decisions in more niche campaigns. Just wondering your thoughts…

Sorry for the double post, but is there a “subscribe to comments” widget for this CMS? I remember questions now and then but always forget to check back
thanks,
