I’m good in SEO, and I”m already doing well with Adsense & my own seo consulting biz.
Should I invest time in learning the Affiliate Marketing basics? And Why?

I have mainly used affiliate programs which pay a percentage of the sale. I get the impression a lot of the top affiliate marketers make most of their money from cost per action programs. Can you please advise what percentage of your total income comes from cost per action as opposed to cost per sale. Thank you.

When you first start your campaign, you mentioned you want to bid “high” to get the good CTR and collect good stats as soon as possible, but how do you determine what is the high bid for that particular niche you are targeting?

Paul,
What would you do if your campaign was doing great, then one day, the CTR stayed roughly the same, but the conversion rates dropped by 5% or more? You try switching networks with the same offer, you find out that other affiliates are not having a severe drop in conversion rates, you even try changing out your landing page, and ad copy. Your average position is the same, but the dam campaign is converting like crap. What would you suggest?

From what I understand, the huge leap in your income was the result of meeting the right people. Obviously, the guys you met wouldn’t guide you in the right direction if they didn’t expect something from you in return. So what kind of approach did you use to get what you wanted out of them? Great to be open to questions again:
1 How do structure your testing landing pages? Do you just name them index1.htm index2.htm etc? Same for internal non-index pages? Seems clumsy but it’s how I do it…
2 Do you use drupal or other CMS for most of your sites? If not, what do you usually use?
3 Do you still design many of your sites? (ie. is it a key skill to learn and apply)
4 Do you pay to have your content written, and then just add all the articles to the site?

I wonder were you get traffic from except from PPC. Do you use any traffic from Image hosting sites or Web proxies? Do you think traffic from those sources might be useful and “monetizable” and if yes what would you try to market on sites like that?

Do you tend to build micro-sites or just landing pages for your campaigns?
I have shifted towards mirco-sites, in an attempt to incorporate SEO into my site design. I am not sure if it’s worth the extra effort.

Is it important to cloak our referrers so the networks don’t see our landing pages or is just cloaking our keywords good enough. I’ve heard of people’s conversions going up after they allowed networks to see their landing pages. But I also heard networks will give out your LP to other affiliates if they see it is working and they also might use it for their own in house PPC team.
Also with the current state of our financial system with some banks failing. Do you need to open up multiple business bank accounts and just put $100K in each? FDIC only insures up to $100K per bank…or is there something else you can do since you are running a business?

I’m not Paul, but here’s the answer to your questions:
1. Grind it out. Success comes more from hard work (and a little luck) than anything else. Don’t worry about becoming a “super affiliate” – just concentrate on making money.
2. Obviously, it’s more difficult now as more people become aware of the opportunities of AM. But this industry is still in it’s infancy – so there is a lot of room to make a lot of money.

I wish that this blog just like it has a Spam filter, it would also have some kind of an idiot filter. That way this comments space wouldn’t be full of stupid and insulting comments.
People, Paul makes the amount he makes because he actually works. This blog does not generate him that much money if at all so be thankful of the time he already invests in it. You can find EXCELLENT advice and info here, but he´s not a content machine. If you want great daily advice and support pay some other affiliate the four digit amounts they charge for consultation and just please stop posting stupid comments here.

1. When you test an offer, do you direct link or using LP right of the bat.
2. Where do you test the offer? I mean adcenter or yahoo?
3. Let’s say I done my keyword research, I fired up a campaign. I bid high in order to achieve high positions and to maintain high ctr (You do it also right?). Whats your daily budget for this period of time? How long it takes you to delete the losing keywords?
4. How much do you benchpress? How much do you deadlift?

1) do you target canada, uk, aus traffic etc? when do you choose to do so?
2) do wht works for google works for yahoo and msn as well? if not, do you test out every campaign on all 3?
3) my CTR, ave position and cpc has been fairly constant for a while. is this normal or are the cpc supposed to drop, ave position get better etc? Thanks man.

I know that google is super crazy about direct linking(forwarding my domain to the website of the advertiser), but what if there isn’t anyone else doing the same thing? I thought it was okay to do that as long as no one else is going to the same page. I am nervous I am going to get G slapped since I just got into the game a few months ago and FINALLY found something that is bringing in some $$$. I am so happy but scared at the same time!
Should I make a site just in case? I don’t want to have to start the campaign over since I am paying 1/4 of what my max click is and I am in the 1st position right now.

Do Search enginees assess for my all pages or each page to give Pagerank of my site?I really wonder that.Because ,%50 pages of my site is not copy page so is there any problem for my unique pages with adding news?Also, I have a main menu which I added to my all pages,is there any problem with this?Thanks…..

Also I know it really depends on the quality of my content and the number of visitors I have. The fact that I do “news”, is that you have a very tough and competitive market. News site require for me to be constantly up to date. There are thousands of sites on Google News, but only a select few are actually even featured.
