Hello 30″ MacPro

(17) Comments... Have Your Say! ~ November 13th, 2007

So I got a new MacPro today and went with the 30″ display, and it’s pretty sick so far. For anybody considering this setup, it’s worth the more expensive price tag (the base cost with no upgrades comes out to about $5k). I’m just messing around with it today and I have 2 IM programs along the left side, then 2 full FireFox windows across the top, and I can fit a ton of IM windows along the bottom. And there’s still open space left. Pretty awesome stuff, I took a shot of how my desk looks right now :

It was kind of funny, I bought it at a big mall and had to pick up the CPU today (got Airport installed in it overnight) and they asked me “do you want a carry out with that?” I was going to say yes, but then I thought “carry outs are for old people” and told the girl I could handle it. This sucker weighs like 500lbs or something near that. I had quite a long trip from the store out to my car, I had to take a break every minute or so – what a workout.

Anyways I’m pretty excited about it, just now getting all my programs installed and files transferred.

I’ll probably post my writeup of ad:tech tomorrow as well, so stay tuned.

Hey I’m jealous! I’d love one of those MacPro’s and that 30″ monitor is really sweet. I recently got the 24″ iMac which isn’t as good but does the job.

Amazing baby. I wonder when you’ll upgrade to some multi-display setup :-)

Is that a macbook in the middle? Man it looks small compared to the 30inch cinema.

How long have you been using macs, may I ask?

I bought a Mac Pro the day Leopard came out. Sweet system.

BTW, if anybody is shopping for a 30″, look at the Dell monitors. They are MUCH cheaper than Apple for the exact same thing. Last I checked, it was about $600 cheaper.
