So I’m at the Media Breakaway Conference in Denver, and at dinner about an hour ago CPA Empire announced that they will be re-branding to Affiliate.com.
They announced that they’re putting their affiliate managers through an affiliate training program, blah blah…
The big news is, NO MORE DIRECT TRACK. They’re building out their own tracking system which is sweet, and want thoughts/ideas from affiliates on what they should do. Here’s a pic I shot from my table.

Cheers to no more direct track

They could soprt out the filitering. DirectTrack sucks for finding stuff easily – for example, whats with listing every country on the planet when you dont have offers for most of them?

Ok the .com news is old from shoe on twitter and I knew about the tracking change 2 weeks ago :) You aren’t exactly first.

I think the name’s kinda lame, no personality at all.
August 9th, 2008 at 4:20 am
I think the oposite. I think it’s a great name… I wonder how much it cost them…
August 9th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
A pretty penny you can be sure..

Nothing exciting.. They will still probably suck!

They should keep it simple. No campaign creation for products or whatever, just apend a kwd= tag at the end of the URL to sort stuff out.
Grab Promotools from a promo tools area, with banners in all sizes and a banner request button, so that if you need a banner, they have it ready within 24 to max 48 hours.
Yeah, I’m not a big fan of directtrack either..

So we are refer to them as the “Affiliate Network” now?
Or, “I really like Affiliate, they have great offers”
Great domain name, HORRIBLE company name.
That would be like calling Texaco changing its name to “Gas” or BMW changing its name to “Car”
wtf?

How about you refer to them as affiliate.com … seems pretty fucking recognizable and easy to remember to me.

WOW! that is amazing CPA Empire has been trying to recruit me for a while – but never joined because of DT – might want to give them a shot once their non DT system is up!

Great domain purchase. Fugly brand identity!
August 8th, 2008 at 9:28 am
Wow – affiliate.com from an seo perspective is STRONG
August 8th, 2008 at 10:32 am
I like this domain name. Why not no more direct track?
August 8th, 2008 at 11:33 am
That’s actually pretty cool news. Affiliate.com is one heck of a domain name.
August 9th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Ha ha, pretty much as bang on in this industry as you can get :P That is what we are..
August 8th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
About fucking time. You can’t compete in this industry with directtrack.
August 8th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
Hopefully they do away with their Crayola-themed interface!
August 9th, 2008 at 4:20 am
I wonder how much this domain cost… Easily $50k+…
August 9th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
Sounds good, and its great that they are moving off DT
August 9th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Good, nice name purchase…
August 10th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
I was going to be at the CPA Empire meeting, but had a vacation. It would have been nice to meet you finally Paul! I live about 12 blocks from CPA Empire! :-)

Bet that domain cost them a large amount of cash. Especially when the seller realizes who is buying it. I bet the price doubled.
