If you have any questions about anything just post a comment and I’ll answer it.

Also, as of right now I do not advise using any of these methods on Facebook, as it seems they are taking actions against affiliates (Facebook staff has gone to a post at Wickedfire telling those that they have personal information and are acting), so I’d stay away from it until everything clears.

Alright, so I’ve gotten to do a little testing with Facebook Flyers, and I’m just going to report what I’ve seen so far. I haven’t done any major testing, just taken some time to put up some flyers and see how they converted. First I’ll show you a screenshot of a few flyers I had running for a day. I had a few more running, but since the most I can have my budget daily is $50, I had to delete them to make room for the new flyers.

I blanked out one of the flyer titles because of the niche I’m promoting. Not too many people in it and it converts really well, so sorry folks.

Now as you can see, my CTR sucks really bad. One thing that would help increase it I think would be images, but for some reason no matter how many times I tried to upload an image, it wouldn’t work. I sent an email to Facebook about that, waiting to hear back from them. Another reason my CTR sucks is because I didn’t really target any of the campaigns. I just searched for the most popular keywords that would be in the most users profiles, and added those. Keywords like “music, movies, beer, money, college”. I also kept bids really low, and that may also have an impact on the CTR, I don’t know yet, haven’t tested enough with it.

Now for conversion wise – for me personally, it’s converting great. Some people it looks like aren’t having the best results with it, but I’m making pretty much a pure profit. On that blacked out campaign, you can see I spent $3.94. I made $45, so $40 not bad for spending 30 seconds on it. For ringtones, I only spent $0.29 and got a lead for $15, so again not a ton of money, but it’s like somebody asking you “hey, I’ll give you 50 bucks to just stand there for 30 seconds”. I’ll be doing more testing with it this week, and trying to get images and stuff in there.

As far as their quality score goes – don’t quote me on this – but it looks like they determine it after and hour or two. When I make a new flyer, it gets like 40k impressions in 45 minutes, and then by 2 hours after that, it’s not getting close to as many. My guess is because of the terrible CTR and low bids.

Off topic blog notes

Bear with me as I’m still working out tweaks in the blog. Things with the feedburner have been a tad screwy, and a new logo is being designed and will be up here soon. That’s about it. Go Bills!!!!! …yeah right.

UPDATED NOTICE : As of now, it looks like Facebook is going in and taking -maybe legal- action against affiliates using the system to their advantage. I have no clue why or what’s going on, but I would advise doing anything major with Facebook for the next few weeks until we get some more clear answers. Thanks.

——————————————

Facebook has launched a both CPC and CPM based advertising platform called Facebook Flyers Pro (the CPM is Flyers Basic). This application allows users to create flyers that are distributed throughout the network where you choose to target it. The minimum bid is currently set at $0.01, and it seems they have some sort of quality score in determining how much you pay per click. From their FAQ :

We select the best ad to run based on the cost per click and ad performance. We have a process in place that will automatically calculate the minimum price that the advertiser could pay and still have the highest cost per click Flyer, and the advertiser will only be billed that price. This price may be below the advertiser’s maximum cost per click. Because we lower the cost per click on your behalf, we recommend that you enter your true maximum cost per click when creating an ad – this will increase the likelihood that you do not miss out on clicks that you otherwise could have received.

What does initially attract me to this is the targeting options they have, here’s a screenshot :

They have a number of pretty nice targeting options that would work out pretty accurately I think. I do know someone in the industry who tested a little with a cellphone ringtone-ish application, and he hasn’t had much success, but it’s only been on a small scale. Given these targeting options though, here’s what I would do (and probably will test) :

Turn the targeting to singles, ages 18-99, all education.

Use keywords like “looking for date”, “looking for chat”, “singles chat”, “looking for love”…just keywords like those.

Run dating offers all day and night.

Now I have no idea how this will work so don’t come after me if you lose some money because you set you CPC uberhigh and lost a nice chunk of cash. It is something to think about and something I’ll play around with and report results.

EDIT: After throwing some flyers up, it looks like the total of all your flyers’ daily spending limits can only be $50…which is pretty beat. Maybe they’ll update it as your account matures, who knows. Maybe I’ll shoot support an email and see if they get back to me with anything.
