April Charity Donation

New CCT Rules at The Bottom, Read ‘Em!

Well today is Charity Check Tuesday (yeah yeah I know it’s late), and unfortunately I ran out of checks to post hah. I guess most people weren’t digging the idea too much of writing checks to me and not the charity, but a huge thanks to those who contributed. As by popular demand, the proceeds this month are going to the Children’s Hunger Fund.

In total we raised $275 in donations, and I’m going to match that to make the total charity check $550. Every dollar helps and it’s awesome that we were able to raise that much in a month.

I guess we’ll change pace a little bit here with the way this is formed. I still want to do CCT as it’s for a good cause and gives you guys some publicity. In that light, here are the new rules for the game :

a) You write the check to whatever charity you want to give to. You send me the check, I post a picture about it, write about you and give your site some link love. I send it to the charity (and even pay for the postage, now can ya beat that? lol).

That’s it. This way you’re not writing checks to me, so if you thought I was going to be evil and steal all the money – I couldn’t anyways. So pick whatever charity you want and send me those checks! I’ll just post them as I get them, so I may not be posting one every week. Thanks in advance if you do send a check, and send it to :

Charity Check Tuesday – Ian Fernando

There was no CCT last Tuesday simply because it was April Fool’s Day and I forgot. So kicking it off this week is Ian Fernando. Ian Fernando is another affiliate marketer who also runs a blog that’s growing nicely. I got a chance to meet him at Affiliate Summit West at dinner for a couple minutes and he was a cool guy. He’s posting his trials, errors, failures, and successes in his blog, he even posted up his stats for March and a writeup of them – check it out. Thanks for the check Ian!

He was also cool enough to send over some shirts with the check, so unfortunately my ugly face is in this picture (I look retarded I think I just woke up). I also need to start taking the pics on a better camera. I also apologize Ian that I suck at doing your pose, but hey we tried and at least my girlfriend looks good.

Here’s some more information about each charity, along with their website :

Children’s Hunger Fund

Children’s Hunger Fund is a publicly funded, non-profit organization, which exists to alleviate children’s suffering. To accomplish this, CHF solicits donations of food, clothing, hygiene items, toys and medicines from U.S. companies. These products are delivered through a monitored food distribution network in cities and countries around the world. CHF relies heavily on monetary contributions from concerned citizens across America. We realize our donors have many options for their charitable giving and every effort is made to effectively utilize their investment. CHF remains one of the most cost-effective charities in the nation, less than one percent goes to cover overhead costs.

D.A.R.E. Program

D.A.R.E.’s primary mission is to provide children with the information and skills they need to live drug-and-violence-free lives. Additionally, it establishes positive relationships between students and law enforcement, teachers, parents, and other community leaders. Every youngster should have the opportunity to grow-up healthy, safe, secure, and equipped with the skills needed to succeed in life. Contemporary America, however, is rampant with challenges that could keep children from a positive life path. The mission is to equip kids with the tools that will enable them to avoid negative influences and instead, allow them to focus on their strengths and potential.

Big Brothers and Sisters

BBBSA’s traditional one-to-one mentoring service was documented effective in promoting positive youth development by national research completed in 1995. A study released by Public/Private Ventures (P/PV) revealed the Little Brothers and Little Sisters are: 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs; 27% less likely to begin using alcohol; 54% less likely to skip school; 37% less likely to skip a class; More confident in their performance in schoolwork; and able to get along better with their families. Recently released research documents that school-based mentoring is equally effective in helping youth at-risk.

Corporation For Supportive Housing

CSH is a national, nonprofit intermediary that helps communities create permanent housing with services to prevent and end homelessness. CSH brings together the people, skills, and resources needed to create the housing and services that change people’s lives. CSH makes supportive housing understood, available, and effective. We advance our mission by providing high-quality advice and development expertise; by making loans and grants to supportive housing sponsors; by strengthening the supportive housing industry; and by reforming public policy to make it easier to create and operate supportive housing.
