Would You Pay for 3 Hours With Me?

  • 75 Comments... Have your say!

I’m interested to know something. If you could, would you pay $500 to get on the phone with me for 3 hours. Basically you get on the phone with me and tell me what you’re doing (you can be as specific as you want). I’ll give you new ideas and help you improve what you’re already doing. What I will do? Give you all the advice I can on how your campaign is going. I’ll help get it off the ground and optimize it so it’s achieving the maximum ROI. What I won’t do? I won’t tell you my campaigns, landing pages, or answer the question “Can I have all your secrets?”

I always talk about how you can’t be afraid to invest a little money for the sake of making 100x more in the long-run. Would you pay $500 for my direct and private advice? I’m interested to see what you guys would do. Note that I’m not starting any phone consultations, really. Take the poll though and answer honestly.

Would you pay $500 for 3 hours on the phone with me?

    1-900-UBER-PLZ?

  2. chris

Yes I would. So what is your paypal account so we can make this happen.

I spent $250 with someone who is not even close to where you are at in the internet game.

  3. Ian

I answered yes, but I would rather have 3 hours in person. Some things are hard to do over the phone. I think two people sitting in front of a computer is more effective and I would even pay slightly more for that. Hell, I’d fly to NY for that.

    • Jason

      Ian,

What if he showed you his desktop to mimic the over-the-shoulder view you’d get in person using something like HotConference or GoToWebinar/GoToMeeting?

Same effect… just without the need for physical proximity.

    • DamnSmiley

Yea sure thing, it is better in person than on phone so i said no no no!

  4. nate

Yes, I would, but not at the moment. I’d pay you as soon as I get to a road block with my optimizations. At that point, I’d definitely pay you for 3 hours of your time. Right now, I’m still growing on my own.

  5. mjones3

    I’d go $250.00, although I’m sure it’s well worth the $500.

  6. louie

Dude , you should charging 10 times that amount. You just hit upon becoming an UBER affiliate internet coach.

  7. Smaxor

That’s cheap. I usually charge at least 500$/hour if I have time to do it. Which is usually no. Don’t sell yourself short.

  8. Mixed Drink World

Of coarse this is a great idea but many of use would blow thru 3 hours in a flash and its not really enough time to really take advantage or all your knowledge. with that being said…

I would be more interested in a monthly consulting fee or apprentice fee where you would take on say 5-10 students and make a case study out of them (me). Part of the deal would be the reporting of all the students results and profits and or losses. Just a thought.

    • Matt Larson

Then I guess you’d pay for another $500, right? I think if someone did the proper homework and prepared for this instead of getting on the phone and saying “here’s what I’m running - help” then you’ll get much more out of this than you think. I imagine you’d want to chop this all up into at least 2 sessions so you could apply and then ask followup questions.

People can’t be afraid to invest in their future. Would you pay a copywriter $2000 to double the conversion rate on an offer that is making you $2000 profit per month? That is a one month payback so you’d better be saying, “yes”. Most businesses look for paybacks under 3 years.

      • Mixed Drink World

I totally agree with you Matt in reguard to doing “proper homework and prepared” and be willing to invest into our future. Yes its a small price to pay, But look at it this way Paul as he has said is very very busy as all of us are. So if he did open up his schedule for 3 hours for $500 bucks. I am sure it would not last very long as it would fill up quckly. So limited in terms of more time. I am not saying it is not worth it in terms of investing into my future because it totally is. I am just saying i have alot to learn and right now I need to learn more of the basics before i can tap into the mind of Paul for fine tuning my affiliate campains or what ever is needed.

Their is a story about a hand made jewely store owner that was going to take a long over due vacation. She told here staff that as soon as she leaves to mark everything down 50% so they can blow out as much inventory as possible since things have been slow. She then left on vacation. Upon here return they had almost sold out of all their inventory she was totally amazed. The staff miss under stood her and marked every thing up 50% and they sold alot more. So the moral of the story. It all perception of value.

  9. Nishu

    I wont give 300$ to Bush :D ..

btw .. keep the price a little more .. may be .. you deserve it

  10. PPC Coach

When I read that title, it sounded like an ad for an escort service…

    • Dave Turnbull

Yeah, I was let down too.

      • Mubin

Were you interested in kocking boots with Paul?

        Why were you let down?

  11. Hyder

$500 is a bit much, but if you make that much in 3 hours on the net it’s probably about right.

  12. Jason

I personally would not… at least not right now. I noticed a couple weeks back that Jonathan Volk charges a little less at $150.00/hr for the same type of consultancy service.

  13. Considering that’s $167 per hour, I will.

Most internet marketing gurus and experts will charge $500 PER HOUR for a phone conversation.

    Stanley Tang
    http://www.stanleytang.com

  14. Pyjammez

    Hmmm… I’d pay $50 for a 3 hour chat session on msn.

  15. golan

well… when i get some first money - maybe… i’m just starting in this industry ))

  16. Moneybites

Yes, I think 500 for three hours is completely reasonable. Reason I say that is, your charging less than 200 a hour, for advice that could potentially make people 100s or thousands of dollars. Would I buy it right now, no, but is 500 a good price, yes….

  17. Hrvoje Livnjak

Is there a Skype consultation also an option?

  18. Affiliate17

Of course I would. We could exchange ideas on affiliate marketing, and give each other useful advice.

  19. Web Hosting Tutorials

    Yes I would, definitely.

  20. Matt Larson

I think 3 hours on something like gotomeeting would be perfect so that way you can see my screen, you can even show me things on your computer or by using my computer and of course the voice.

Since you’re not actually doing this, I’d say you are selling yourself short. $166 / hr is a bit lowball for a good consultant - especially one that pulls in the bank you do. But if you’re doing it to give something back while getting some money out of your time, then I’m buying ;)

  21. browie

$500 is a little more than the $450 that Jonathan Volk would charge. LoL

I’d pay something to give you a call someday but $500 would be pushing it right now with the money I have.

    • REC

If I had the money, I would go with Jonathan Volk. I think this poll is a dis-service to Paul, since now he may have painted himself into a corner. A $500 dollar corner.

  22. Daily Tech Planet

This looks kind of weird to me. Paul, you’re a nice guy, really, don’t do this crap for some kind of 500$, I understand that this is a VOTE only, but still.. *ugh* You would drop in some people eyes, seriously.

    • Cut

Ya Paul don’t do it man. Like the guy above me said your a nice guy. When I see “gurus” have consulting sessions I throw up a little bit. I mean whats next an “uber aff e-book”. You will be making money from the sheeple. But you will lose respect from most people in this industry aka wickedfire. But if you like DP and warrior forum go right ahead.

  23. Frank Abagnale

just a little to expensive for me, 300$ would be better

  24. kevin

    Hi Paul,

I think over the phone people would not want to do but face to face and with the pc in front of you giving tips/advice etc then everybody would go for it.

Over the phone to me is the same as an ebook, everybody buys and does nothing with the advice, with somebody sat in front of you its easier and of course you acheive more, as you would be sailing blind everytime the customer wants to show you something or describe something so you would only acheive half of the stuff you want to.

I think Anthony Robbisn did something with the US Gun sniper team, where the new recruits thought, did looking at what the pros did and everybody acheived higher results than just being told what to do.

In person Yes I would pay

    Cheers

    Kevin

  25. Christoph

I’d see this as a great opportunity, but I would prefer one-on-one time as well. Why not offer an entire day for $1,500.00? I’d like to be your first customer and fly out to where you’re located. :)

  26. Diorex

That is a bargain. I have been approached and turned down $5000 per day plus expenses.

I would think that over the phone consultation with someone who knows what he is doing is worth $500 an hour. In person $650 or so.

My take on this is that I would never hire someone who was doing it for the money, because they would not be the expert I wanted, but as an expert I would never do it for money because I can make much more for longer if I dont dilute my tricks.

Kind of the “I would not want to be a member of a club that would admit me” school of thinking.

  27. Life is Colourful

If you would need your readers to pay for something that you could tell on your blog and enrich with your knowledge, I might not be actually paying $500 for that knowledge. I mean, just spending few months online, I can gather lot of that anyways.

  28. ibusinesstalk

I will take it..3 hours consulting..that is good price if Paul can help me to boost my campaign. You can make up $500 within one day.

  29. B-Man

I am amazed NickyCakes isnt all over this.

    • DamnSmiley

where the hell is Nicky Cakes? Damn this dude is SCARED NOW! LMAO hahahahahahah!

  30. ke

I would not and for this reason.

I asked a question, which you were kind enough to answer, but the answer you gave was too general to be of any use. So, based on that experience, I would not pay you $500 dollars.

Your answers/blog is very, very, general and for that amount of money, I’d want something way more specific.

  31. Marko

I’d rather take that money and put it towards going to a convention where I could get much more out of it.

  32. Stephane

I see this post is already stirring up some sh*t over at WickedFire.com…

    LOL…

  33. jack Martin

My answer would be no, and this is not a knock on you personally.

Some answers included justification along the lines of “‘ Have you seen how much some other Gurus charge?”

The problem is most so-called “Gurus” are worthless.

It remains to be seen if Paul is worth it or not. I would think as successful as he is, he would spend his time working on his campaigns and his free time with his GF or whatever else he does. Someone who is really successful doesn’t need to do consultations and advertise how great they are. The REAL “gurus” are making money and you have never heard of them. They will never claim t be a guru or care to have a blog where they talk about themselves.

I could use the $500 for a lot of things, and I would certainly advise “newbies” to avoid shelling out big money for consultations, boot camps, etc. All seems a little Casey Serin-ish to me. BTW, this includes conventions and the like.

    Thats my 2 cents.

  34. Tyler

I would pay $500 to do a face to face meeting.. Or perhaps screen sharing phone conversation type thing. I would see a lot more value in actually being able to show you exact campaigns I am trying etc..

  35. Patrick

I would pay up to 10 thousand dollars for face2face consultation with you, i am sure it would be very profitable investment.

  36. Toki Tover

nah i would not do that… just do it on your own guys. Go read the wickedfire forum from 06 an on and that is more than enough to get anyone started.

  37. Vivian

It would be worth it if you can show us how you pick your products, create and maintain the campaigns and turn it profitable. But just to get on a phone call is kind of silly and expensive.

  38. Wes Mahler

I don’t think its unreasonable at all. $175/hour almost. Our attorneys are about $475/hour. I’d say this is a bargain by all means.

  39. mjones3

Okay, okay, forget the $250.00 comment. I’m in for $500.00. However, if you really want to know how much people would pay, I’d auction off 1 full day with you on Ebay!

Can I get a discount for the suggestion? :-)

  40. nickycakes

Yes, lets pay $500 so we can learn how to live in your parents basement.

    • luemob

      You couldn’t resist!! could you!

    • Nick

      LOL

    • WayneDog

Knew this was coming but it took a while this time, cakes your slippin…

    • DamnSmiley

Holy fuuuuuuuuck hahahahahahaha LMAO dude im a fan! I love the way you handle Paul! lol hahahahahahaa i knew u were gonn say something you badass! =))

  41. anthonydinh

$500 is not not unreasonable at all, provided the client does his homework beforehand and is prepared so he can maximize his time with you. i also agree that maybe there should be a 2nd session to allow for follow-up ques.

how about a “site analysis” service where u analyze a blogger’s site and come up with recommendations on how to improve SEO, traffic, monetization, etc?

  42. Scott

Things I’d rather do with the 3 hours… See you get owned on WF.

Still have lots of respect for you…. Just rise above it! No need to insult your readers by defending yourself on WF. The world is full of haters and you simply can’t win if you fight them all.

  43. yudi

$500? expensive for me, but if i have that amount of money, i’ll pay for it

  44. WayneDog

It’s funny according to the poll most people say no they woudn’t pay but if you read the comments most of them say they would pony up the $500, mixed signals or sure.

  45. Shannon

You know what would be cool. If you had teleseminars on PPC. People can pay to be on the call. You can talk about PPC and give great advice… You can also have a Q&A session at the end where people can ask questions live (or email them in advance).

I’m sure you’ll get a lot of people signing up for this.

If you go this route, having the recording of the show available to download for free afterwards would be cool.

I say free because it’ll be viral and help promote the selling of future teleseminars. Or instead of free, you can offer a tier pricing.

Price One: $200 - Join the call live
Price Two: $50 - For 15-30 Days after call - downloaded the recorded version
Price Three: FREE - 30+ days after call - give it away, upsell future calls and provide your url within the mp3 (for the viral effect).

    ~Shannon

  46. Shannon

pricing is only a suggestion… I have no clue the going rate for this type of calls… or what people would pay!

    ~Shannon

  47. profezor

Where do I sign up? :)

    profezor

  48. DamnSmiley

Like is Adwords kicking your butt so much that you got some free time? Cos if abt 150 people say yes that means u aint gonn do nothing else but making phone calls? hahahaha that would rock lol!

  49. Matt Bingel

    I would give you a $1000. Let’s do this! :-)

  50. kent

That is too cheap. Seriously, good lawyers charge $400 per hour. Celebrity lawyers much more. Its a non linear pay curve and you are at the top.

In your case, it drives down your perceived value to charge less than $1000 per hour.

  51. Nick

If only these people would only invest the money they are willing to give paul into affiliate marketing! You have to realize that you don’t need someone to hold your hand to make money online, just go out and do it. That’s the best way to learn.

    Nick

    • DamnSmiley

I second to that Nick, 3 hours talk over the phone wont get u much unless it is live then someone is tallking. Take your time invest that money and see how it goes.

  52. Mike

YES! I would love to chat with you for 3 hours. In fact, I have been trying to get in touch with you because I think there are many ways that we could be working together to help each other make a lot more money online.

I’d pay it as long as you were retiring from the industry in the next 30 days and wanted to “pay it forward”. The reality of this is that you are most likely NOT going to share any of your delicious little secrets, maybe just a few appetizers here and there, which I could read on WF or DP for free. I’ve finally learned the hard way that a guru only sells secrets if they aren’t useful to him anymore.

    Just my humble opinion.

  54. Todd

3hrs is too much, how about 30 minutes for $100?

  55. Jay

I would say no. Paying $500 for three hours of talking to you on the phone is a little too much. And honestly, I can’t remember the last time I spent three hours on the telephone…

But just reading your blog is good enough to help me. Plus, you’re not going to tell me your landing pages, your campaigns or all your secrets so what’s the point? lol

    Jay

  56. Collin LaHay

Depending on how the meeting was setup (virtual desktop, planning beforehand, etc) I would.

  57. Roy Phay

    Hi Paul,

I just chanced upon your site through a friend recommendation, so, I guess word of mouth marketing is doing well for you.

It’s my first time to your blog, and I love it. I just hang out for about 5 minutes now, and reading some of your posts and comments.

As a marketer myself, I can tell that you are drawing great crowds, and your questions of 3 hours for $500, personally, I feel it’s worth it.

When I get to know more of you and knowing your strengths in your marketing, and I know that after investing 3 hours of our time together and $500, I can generate at least 10X in the next 30 days with your advice, I would do it.

    That’s my personal opinion.

Look forward to catch up with you, Paul

haha this sounds like an incredibly vain post : would you pay to talk to me? … haha but you my friend , are allowed to be vain :)
